Napoleon Orda is an artist, writer, composer and musician. He was born in the village of Vorotsevichi, Pinsk district, was educated in Vilna, and since 1833 settled in Paris.
Napoleon Orda traveled extensively in Belarus, Ukraine, Lithuania and Poland. Everywhere he made sketches of various places. Today, his works serve as a valuable source for architectural historians and restorers, they are distinguished by thorough documentation. Many architectural monuments captured by the painter no longer exist or have changed a lot.
The artistic heritage of Napoleon Orda includes more than 1150 watercolors and graphic works. A significant collection of lithographs from the drawings of the Horde is kept in the National Library of Belarus. His work - the image of the Nesvizh castle of the Radziwills - is imprinted on the Belarusian banknote of 100,000 rubles.
